In order to get into the 300 Club, you must observe 300 different species of bird in the state of Connecticut in one calendar year. This is an achievement which only 5 other birders have done (all of them with a lot of free time, a car, and were not in school). Yesterday morning, I did just that, but ironically, I don’t know what my 300th bird was! I refound the “Western” Flycatcher in Branford yesterday, but the species (either Pacific-slope or Cordilleran) is still undetermined. Fortunately, DNA samples from the birds poop was collected and will soon reveal exactly what species it is. I’ll add photos later.
